Laura Mazer is a literary agent with Wendy Sherman Associates, where she specializes in adult nonfiction. Her areas of special interest include inventive self-help, high-concept gift books, the intersection between culture and pop culture, health and wellness, and deep dives into the unexpected corners of everyday life. She has a particular passion for history, biography, and literary legacies, especially when they uncover fresh, untold stories about women. She also represents select adult upmarket and commercial fiction.

Before joining WSA, Laura was executive editor at Seal Press, an imprint of Hachette Book Group, where she championed bold voices in adult nonfiction. Her New York Times bestsellers include So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo and From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars by Virginia Grohl. Previously, she was the managing editor of Counterpoint and executive editor of its imprint Soft Skull Press, acquiring literary and upmarket fiction as well as narrative nonfiction.

Before her career in book publishing, Laura was managing editor of a global news agency representing some of the most influential opinion writers and editorial cartoonists of the time, including Hillary Clinton, Arianna Huffington, Molly Ivins, Ann Landers, and Mike Luckovich. A dedicated advocate for underrepresented voices, she serves on the board of The OpEd Project and offers one-to-one consulting sessions for aspiring and established authors.
