Brendan O’Meara

Brendan O’Meara is the author of two works of nonfiction: Six Weeks in Saratoga: How Three-Year-Old Filly Rachel Alexandra Beat the Boys and Became Horse of the Year and The Front Runner: The Life of Steve Prefontaine. He is the host and founder of The Creative Nonfiction Podcast, which he started in 2013 in the crucible of jealousy, bitterness, resentment, and loneliness. He talks to tellers of true tales about the true tales they tell including such luminaries like Laura Hillenbrand, Susan Orlean, David Grann, Mary Karr, Nick Flynn, Melissa Febos, and John McPhee. Brendan is an award-winning journalist and essay writer whose work has appeared in Longreads, Short Reads, Creative Nonfiction, Trail Runner Magazine, Mountain Home Magazine, and several newspapers. In April 2023, he won the New Yorker caption contest.
